Had a bit of an off today and clattered my head on a wall didn't pay much attention at the time but on closer inspection got two dents in my crash helmet about the size of a five pence piece, i'm guessing it's scrap now. Any thoughts?

Not sure about cycle helmets, but for motorbike helmets they are only good for one crash because any defect in the helmet changes the structural integrity.

Personally Id rather get a new one than risk it.

is not worth risking it....I would can it straight away...or depending on the make, they'll offer you a heavily discounted one (Spesh and Giro do, I know that as have wrecked a few!) if you send them the old one as proof.

As far as I'm aware the same rule applies. I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere in the bumph I got with mine. Crash, replace it.

You might find there's a crash replacement policy anyway where you'll only have to pay cost for a replacement.

Thing is (from what they claim at least), a crash can cause internal damage that you may not see on the surface and the theory is that a big crash later could result in lesser protection.

Though I should practice what I preach. I've taken a number of hits on my lid and I really should replace it, though there's no noticeable significant dents.

Anyway, having seen what happens even with a lid on, with just a simple impact, you just can't mess about with this stuff. I intend to replace mine, and at the same time get a full face for the more serious stuff.

What's the worst that can happen in both scenarios?

Dont buy a new one - Fall off, helmet has lost its integrity, you die/end up in a wheelchair
Buy a new buy - Have to spend £50 that you' normally spend on beer for the week

    Simples

Don't bring beer into it. That just complicates matters. :D
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

My beer budget is much higher, so a £50 lid is nothing :D

Buy a new buy -new one causes rotational brain damage and you die.

'fixing' another peoples posts is rude and your opinion is wrong.

Fair enough, I'm convinced I'm only walking about today because of a cycle helmet so I do get very passionate about them.

Anyway, i don't buy into the rotational injury thing off-road. I always tend to crash into things of simply fall over, you rarely see sliding like you do on the road.
