There is a review of these seatposts which mentions that they exhibit a small "wobble" when in use.

Is this "wobble" a small side to side movement or is this a rotational movement?

What other makes of height adjustable seatposts are there and do they all "wobble"?

  • quite a lot of them seem to develop a side to side 'wobble' which is one of the main things that puts me off, i know its only a minor issue but when your spending that amount on one you want it to be spot on hey! have seen some in the bike shop that have developed 10mm of side to side play!

A lot of these posts do have a wobble, not just the Joplin, to me it makes absolutely no difference so I just ignore it.

Still, the old Joplin/Speedball is legendary for unreliability, then again it's cheap. There's a reason it's cheap ;)

I haven't personally but I've watched a mate of mine do battle with his, he got one of the early ones and it got returned twice and had most of its parts replaced, then got returned again and replaced with a new one, then when that failed the revised internals had been launched so it got sent back again and had all those fitted. So 3 returns Since then, it's been good enough that he actually bought another.

After he first got it, and for months afterwards, I'd have said you had to be insane to buy one even if were just for a pound. But now, I'd have one no bother, still half thinking of buying one for the Hemlock so's I don't need to keep moving my Gravity Dropper between bikes.
