I have just bought a langster ss as my commute mountain bike has been stolen. Will I love it the drivetrain does not feel as smooth as my madone, I do not expect it too, but I would like to upgrade the freewheel, is there a 'quality' item that anyone can suggest? I do not know enough about ss parts to have an opinion was hoping someone like phil wood did them but they only do fixed wheel cogs

Great chieftain of the freewheel race appears to be White Industries:

  • Agreed, I have had 7 of these in various sizes over the last 3 years. The one on my commuter Langster needed a new bearing (easy rebuild) after 6,000 miles, other than that no problem ,which is great when in contrast to the total failure of a Shimano item at 1500 miles.
    Well worth it.
