He's not the only one that has happened too, surely people who have a genuine disability and need support should receive until they have been helped by the State to fend properly for themselves and can fend for themselves, not because of some arbitrary distance of 400m walking.

    +1 on the outrage

    SHocking

All the warning signs were there about the Tories/Liberals. ANything to save a bit of cash regardless of your circumstance.

They've just introduced reforms to the assessments for disability. The descriptors have changed so that if you are so disable dthat you cant lift a up a cup with one hand you lose your benefits because you willstillbe able to lift a cup by wedging it between your upper arm and body.

The treatment of the disabled in this country is shameful.

The other week I saw a young man in taskers, I only knew him becuase he'd been on the news. He was early twenties, blind, lost his sight in Afghanistan, and had to be led round the store by placing his hand on his mothers shoulder for guidance. It was such a sad sight.

What future does a young man like him have who at 18 had only the dream to serve his country?
The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.

Isn't it funny how short people's memories are. The DWP are enforcing policies introduced during Labour's regime and suddenly it's the fault of the current government.

What you have to remember though is, the "new labour" government were the old tories with a red rosette.

Absolutely agree. It’s deplorable for someone who has served their country and has been disabled as a consequence should be treated in this way. The guy is fully deserving of our utmost respect and support.

However, this got me thinking on another related matter. At lunchtime I always go for a walk around the city centre, and of the cars parked in the pay and display bays along the road, I would estimate that at least 70% have the disabled blue badge cards on their dash boards. In fact on one stretch of road there are 8 parking bays and every car had a disabled badge. (These are not disabled only parking spaces either)

My initial thought is that there surely can’t be this large a proportion of disabled people about. And what criteria do you actually need to get a disabled badge?

Only today within the space of a couple of minutes, I saw one guy pull up on yellow lines, throw his disabled card on top of the dashboard, and walk briskly down the road before trotting up half a dozen steps into a bank.

Similarly, a few minutes later, a woman with her young son (about 8 years old) again park up and displayed the disabled card. After a short walk down the pavement they both ran across a busy road to avoid the traffic.

Call me cynical, but WTF. If these people are disabled then I think I should qualify for a badge as due to an ankle injury I can’t move half as fast as these so called disabled people can. Or is this just another symptom of our selfish, couldn’t-give-a-damn about anyone else society.

It’s disgraceful that the system is allowed to be abused in this way when much more deserving cases are refused.

To be honest I'm find that article rather appalling. A third hand story tended to shock or anger with very little facts about what it is supposed to be "reporting. Still the prosthetic leg photo was a good touch.

Disabled people are treated like second class citizens, on the whole.
There have also been people lying and abusing disability benefits, also people who should be entitled have been refused as they are too proud or don't shout the loudest. It's hardly a cameron idea though is it? The last government were just as bad as were the ones before that.

A spokeswoman for the Department for Work and Pensions said: "Issues such as this one are why we are making changes to the way we assess eligibility to DLA. We want to introduce a new, more objective assessment to ensure the system is fairer and targets those most in need.

Well let's hope they get it sorted out in time for this man.
