Brake!!!

I'm loving my Giant Anthem X4. However I'm not loving the brakes too much (Deore).

The brakes have been serviced well and for the price I think they're pretty good, but now looking to upgrade.

I do almost all XC work, no big jumps to speak of really, but just feel that this is an area of the bike that deserves an upgrade to help me brake a bit later etc!

So anyone got any recommendations for a good quality high performing XC disc setup?

Happy to spend the money if it's worth it, so not looking at the budget end of the market (already got those on the bike!)...

I'd doublecheck the setup of the deores, they're great brakes if they're set up right (much like any other system!)

    What he said...

Personally, after using V-brakes for 15 years I can't believe that Deore discs aren't good enough.

But if you really want to upgrade them, the XT's on my X2 work like a dream.

I got Deore (575's) on my HT and XT (770's) on my FS.

Can recommend both, The 575's do a good job, the 770's do an exceptional job.

    Depends on your budget.

Yeah I certainly wouldn't upgrade for the fun of it - I've had them checked over twice now....I guess what made me think of it is when I was riding my mates Trek Fuel EX8, his Avid set up was brilliant in comparison.

So it got me thinking. I just want more stopping power.

thought of bigger discs then? far cheaper than buying a whole new setup.
