1.5 hours for 10 miles, that's not that slow for off road, though depends on the terrain
I'm always keen to share a ride, next few sundays are booked, and don't get back from the big smoke until 19:30, so am now limited to rides around basingstoke in the evenings, if you want to trav a few miles for evening ride round candover valley, let me know.
My typical evening route is 17 miles and takes me around 1 hour 30 mins: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/35894515

Hi Jamie
I'm in the Newbury area and would be keen to meet for group rides. I am available Thursday evenings from 7pm and some Sundays.
I tend to head out to Snelsmore or Greenham common on weekdays and down to Kingsclere area at weekends.
cheers

Hi Beechtree,
That looks like a good route and me and the wife have ridden some of it already and we were looking at how to link in for a different ride as we normally go from Cliddseden, Ellisfield and on to Preston Candover and return vis Axford, Farleigh and back to Cliddseden on our rides. we are not particulary fast as this takes us about 3 hours for 36 Km with a break.

My fave weekend route at the mo goes through cliddesden / ellisfield and then connects with the candover ox drove. There are a couple of more technical bits around ellisfield with tree roots and rain gullys and the drop down from the old basingstoke to alton railway is a bit steep too:

Am planning to do a simlar route but more off road, by going over dummer clump, past the farm and over windmill hill (as per the 17 mile route), then sharp left up through the valley (bedlam bottom) to farliegh - a section i guess you already know, then on to cliddesden school. That will mean a circular route of around 27 miles with only 1 real section of road and a fair amount of climbing too.'97 GT Zaskar Red Annodised

Know the Cliddesden- railway Ellisfield down to Preston candover route very well, good steep drop down from the railway line, have managed once to ride up that when we have done some of the route in reverse  The route down to berry lane is good fun followed by a nice single track climb to the bridleway at the top.
The route up the valley to Bedlam Bottom is as boring as hell normally into the wind, and its about 2 Km finishing of with a fairly steep climb to Farleigh although they have now put cows and a bull in the field at the end. Did Ellisfield to Farliegh by road the other evening, a short ride only and went down Bedlam Bottom at 74Km .

Living in Newbury atm, so if anyone is up for a group ride I'd love to tag along.
Mainly cycle round Greenham common and cycled up to the Ridgeway a few times.

Moved away some years ago but I know the area well. That bit of Wayfairer's Walk is a blast between 3 Legged Cross (Crux Easton?) down to the A34 and back up to Watership Down.
It's 35 miles or so as a circular route (Kingsclere - Headley - Greenham - Wash Common - Woolton Hill - Ashmansworth - 15 miles off road to White Hill.
Speed's not an issue but you need some miles in your legs. If I'm in the area I'll PM.0
