Probably beneficial in my case. Last Friday I drank a bottle of (very good) wine after a night ride, crashed out instantly and slept solidly for 11 hours.

Small amounts of red wine can be good for the heart and contain anti oxidants.
Too much alcohol can also damage your pancreas, brain cells and can do nasty things to the stomach.0 -
Well, with age, I certainly get more tired the day after drinking, which leaves me not wanting to do much and so sometimes I don't ride as far on my bike because I'm wrecked from the night before!
