Does anyone find this tastes a bit strong?

I seem to remember reading that somebody waters it down for their rides...

Anyone know a good water/lucozade mix percentile wise? Don't want to experiment cos its £1.15 a bottle and I have no money!

My advice would be to experiement with the likes of SIS, Torg, High5 Energy Source 4+1 rather than pre mixed Lucozade Sport. Find one that you like and then buy a big tub online and make the drinks up before your rides, it will work out much cheaper and in my experience the products mentioned are easier on the stomach and are miles more effective.

I use the High5 which for me is the best of the bunch, but you will find just as many people espousing the virtues of the other drinks.

I make my own energy drinks with Glucose powder - £1.39 for 400g from Superdrug.

depends what your looking for, i think lucosade sport is an energy drink, it will taste strong because it has a high concentraion of energy (sugar) the lucozade hydro active and things like that will have lower concentraion because its for hydration...depends what you are using the drink for, hydration/energy?

Squash, sugar and salt, as good as any energy drink and a shed load cheaper.

+1. There's a specific type of salt that works best - can't remember which - but my motorsport training book specifically lists it.

If you use NAS squash, you can control the sugar content via the sugar you add.

I get Lucozade Sport from the Home Bargains near where I work, and water it down - so about 300 - 400ml of the stuff to the same amount water, gets me home in good time. Wouldn't drink the stuff at full strength though.

Buy the powder - it's usually cheaper - more "environmentally friendly" (less plastic and they aren't shipping the water around) and you get to choose how strong you'd like it and how much you want to take with you.

I take 2 750ml bottles with me on long rides, and because I hate faffing around with powders, I take 1 bottle 50/50 water/gatorade for electrolytes to stop cramps, and 1 50/50 water/lucozade body fuel for an energy boost late into a ride.

    Worked for me so far..

It's worth getting some glucose from your local chemist. I bought a large tub for around 2 squid and it's great for dropping into your water. I do mix some with the SIS powder I get occasionally, dunno if it helps though
