I have just got myself some Shimano R540 spd sl's and am looking for some shoes without breaking the bank. My size seems to have sold out in Shimano r076 which have been on sale for sub £50. So what are the dhb R1's like?

Anyone got them?

How is the sizing on them? I have heard Shimano sizing is a tad off.

Cycling shoe sizing is weird. The only way to find what fits is to try some on so take a trip to your LBS (even if you don't buy from them).

I have a pair of DHB R1's, think they are fine shoes, I am an 11 and I got a 46.

The sizing guide on the product page on wiggle seems about right.
  • Cool. I am a bit gutted as I had a £5 off Wiggle code and it just expired!

  • SD...just change your preferences on the Wiggle newsletter via the website and you'll get another £5 off code that's valid for 7 days.
  • Thanks for the tip. Will do

I have just bought myself a pair of Northwave "Vertigo's" and most places that sell them will give you change out of £60.00.

Also the sizes seem spot on, I am a size 9 and a size 9 fitted great, and I am well pleased having worn them a few times.

I got the DHB R1s a couple of weeks ago and they really are great for the price. I'm a 10 and went by the guide on wiggle with 45 and they're bang on

Size 11 bought the 46's, little long but needed larger size to get the width.

Found I needed a cushioned insole for rides above about 45 miles but great shoe for the money, have now upgraded to some Lake CX235C, 45.5 fit perfect, mmmm can't beat white perforated leather on a carbon sole and 40% off!!!!!! 8)
  • Got my £5 off voucher and ordered the shoes last night. Thanks guys.

not tried them yet but I also got these, also I am a size ten but on the big size of a ten and had to send the first pair of 45 back and get the 46 instead
  • They arrived this morning. Spot on fit and they seem a decent shoe, especially for the price.
