Wots this a possible Scouser buying a bike! (only joking).

Have a look at www.bikesyoulike.co.uk they are based at Thatto St.Helens which isnt that far away.
The website lists Giant but it would be worth a ride to the shop as they have a good selection. They will offer same price in shop as on web and also have maintanence facilities for routine servicing.
The guys there are pretty knowledgable as well.

    Nanoo nanoo.

There are quite a few you could try.

Quinns on Edge lane isnt bad, staff knowledgable and relatively cheap. (their website is dreadful so dont judge them too harshly)

Formby cycles, as mentioned, great customer service but can be a bit pricey but they do have a huge selection of bikes so if you need Giant speciific parts theyd prob have them.

Just 20 mins by car or train is Harry Middletons in Ormskirk. Great service, knowledgable staff and comparitively cheap for maintenance/check ups.

I tend to switch between middletons and formby and use quinns only as an excuse to go into town for a pint.

There are a few little bike shops in and around town as well but I think theyre just sellers/buyers rather than well upon upgrades.

    Good luck. and shazbat

  • Go to Quinns on Edge Lane, I bought my Trek1.2 from there, good fit and service provided. They threw in a free computer when I asked for one. They also sell Specialized.
Please help, new to this game but I want to upgrade from a hybrid to a road bike. Can any one recommend a good road bike@£700?

Formby cycles is highly recommended, although be prepared to want to spend A LOT of money! 8)

I also like the Specialized Concept Store/Bike Factory in Chester. Both have very good staff and choice imo... :D

Pedal Power in Formby - lads know what they are doing though premises are a bit tatty and fantastic friendly service. Find what you like at Formby Cycles then go down the road to PedalPower and get them to do the job.
  • Picton Cycles on Picton Road (surprisingly) in Wavertree.

The owner and every member of staff are keen cyclists and know their stuff. They don't just sell bikes, they have a good workshop and are set up for servicing.

In fact, the owner does it for the love of cycling rather than for money.
  • Cheers Norman, think Picton Cycles will be my LBS of choice, plus it's closest too.

    Thanks

It's further along the main road from where the Thatto Cycles shop used to be (if you remember that) - just past the crossroad junction.

Sadly it's a pretty busy road but you can usually park around the back.

I don`t get anything done at Formby cycles anymore even though I have 2 bikes from there. Their mechanics, unless they have replaced them, are incompetent IME. You might as well go to Halfords.
