    I thought Zinn was dead!

Or was it someone else "big" in the cycling World, Sheldon Brown maybe?

Sheldon Brown certainly died fairly recently.

All that text and the last sentence says all that needs to be said:

So, we’re left with my original theory. LZ’s Schleck chain-drop theory in a nutshell: ‘twas a perfect storm of upshifting under load...

He also writes about a Mavic mechanic being able to put the chain back on easily... the 'Mavic mechanic' I saw fixing the bike happened to be 6ftodd, ~60kg and wearing a mis-matched Saxo Bank bib/Yellow Jersey combo.

    Crap article, sorry LZ.

So, enlighten us all with your unquestionable knowledge of what happened.
  • His chain came off.

These things happen, pro bike riders know that these things can happen and they usually mitigate the risk by getting on the right gear before attacking.

    C'est la vie.

Zinn definitely isn't dead I saw him riding along a bike path in mid-June.
