Eddy Merckx Poster?
Hi,
I'm after a race poster of the canibal; not a candid one, but one with pain on his face, prefferably coupled with dropped riders!
Anyone know anywhere (prefferably in the UK) where I can find one? You see photos all the time, but I cant seem to find a decent poster!
Also after a smallish wiggins picture, and some art nouveux type graphic posters too!
Thanks!
Rory.

Try Jules Cheret's work, not so much cycling but there's some decent stuff around.
Also see if you can get a copy of the Tour de Frabnc e survival pack. It's a tenner but it's got four art prints with it that are worth that alone I would say. There's an Arnstrong one, a Pantani one from 98, a standard Pyrenees one and THAT Anquetil/Poulidor one from 1964.
Also, I got sent a print of the cover of procycling from a few months ago with Wiggo, Contador et al on it.0 -
There's also L'Equipe photo archive - I've got some great pre-war Tour photos framed up in my bike workshop. Suggest you try and find something from 1969 where he was resplendent in the World Champs jerseyMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

You're in for a fairly long search.
Most cycling photographers obsess over how pretty the background is - or picturing the fact it's a man on a bike. Very few seem to capture the human emotions involved in racing. The British Empire never died, it just moved to the Velodrome0 -

Speaking of the Survival Pack, last year's had a print of Merckx on the Tourmalet in '69. He has one rider for company (no idea who it is), and he's staring hard at the ground. Think he was going over the top. Probably not quite what you're after, but it's a very good shot.
Edit - Found it. This is from a different angle and the quality obviously isn't as good.

This is from l'equipe.fr and is probably what you're after
And there's links to follow to look into buying them0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the tips! That last pic is exactly the kind of thing I want.... I'm having trouble navigating the l'equipe site though.... guess I better find someone who speaks french!
Cheers!

Someone posted an action picture of Merckx but this one is still a fairly good poster.

I've looked at that All Posters before, looks like the price is about expected.
Also as said http://images.google.com/ Google the images "Merckx Poster" and no telling what comes up...including a number of blog types of entrees...http://visualfrank.posterous.com/eddy-m ... ame-poster so I don't think ones like this are for sale.
I once looked through the "old cycling ads" posters at All Posters, lots of good ones....must be hundreds. Excuse that that is off topic but some of those old prints are wonderful.

It's too bad they don't have posters of the images they have on T-shirts, least I can't see that they do. Because I've had t-shirts in the past before but feel like I'm the only person who knows what's or who's on it! 8) They have a few Merckx t-shirts, most of those look nice as well as the other ones on brands, etc.

Has a bunch of expensive wool jerseys and hats like Merckx might have worn but they are an expensive outfit. Vintage Velos is real expensive but Velo-Retro don't seem too bad.0 -
This was one of my favourite Merckx pictures when I was a lad. I was provided as a poster in the middle of the Leicester World Champs Programme. (Which I no longer have ). It shows Merckx in the 1970 Paris-Roubaix.

I am not sure you will find a really good copy as, as far as I am aware, it only ever appeared as an advertisement printed in a French bike mag.0

I love this photo but have no info on it. Can anyone help?
What year? What race? Where?

From the look of the house on the right I'd say it's Flanders rather than Roubaix0
