Hi all,

Can someone please help im about ready to kill both my bikes today.

The rear sora brake on my focus wont release, i have had the whole thing off, i have cleaned it re lubed and made sure its all lined up and tight. Its the pad attached to the brake cable that does not release. Again i have cleaned the cable and lubed it but it still wont budge.

Any ideas? im ready to chuck the bike in the skip :(

It's a common problem with those calipers, only way to reliably fix them is to replace them....

    very strange
    brakes are very simple things
if you have rebuilt them properly and cable runs free, shouldnt have too many problems

is your wheel on straight or is it biased on one side? if so striaghten the wheel

else take wheel off and try brakes, if they work ok without the wheel being in place then its not brakes fault, if they dont work then recheck whole system, cables, brake spring, make sure caliper central etc.

Just to clarify: You've had the whole caliper off the bike and it springs open OK when you squeeze it in your hand?

As above, remove the cable from the caliper. Does it release properly then?

    +5

First thing you need to do is to separate the cable from the brake caliper to see which bit is sticking.
