hi all, do any of you own a raliegh avanti race??? a local dealer has marked them down £300 so its now £1699 all in. just wondered what its like to live with? i also like the boardman pro carbon but after 5min talking to the guy in halfords it was clear he had no idea what he was talking about. i had to ask myself "would i want this guy building me a bike?" frustrating as i really like the boardman. plus boardman helmets are the only lids that don't make me look like i'm about to be fired out of a cannon.
any advice would be much appreciated,
thanks guys

I don't own one but the spec looks decent at that price with full Ultegra. If you can get past the name, probably a good buy.
That said, Boardmans are good bikes and even if your bike is being built by a monkey, just take it your local LBS for a once over - sorted(as I did, and was glad I did !)

i've actually found them for £1524. and the team with durace for £2125.
its strange how people react when they see the name raleigh. they've got a good racing pedigree and have made bikes for a long time, and fly the flag for britain. i find it strange that they get snubbed the way they do. i think at the end of the day its snobbery, i'm almost tempted to get one just to be different. but i do like that boardman0 -
They get good write ups in cycling Plus. Besides - makes snobs look foolish when you ride past them.http://www.georgesfoundation.org
