Hi I've never had a bike before (well more than £200). So I'm looking for advise on getting my hands on one .
I'm looking at the voodoo bantu and the carrera fury in halfords. Or should I search around some real bike shops and mYbe get an older 2007 08 model with better albeit older spec . Ie the giant xtc 2.5 07 model .

Go for the fury, excellent bike for the money. Although, my friend went out yesterday to buy one and virtually everywhere was sold out. We drove for an hour to find one

I did like the fact the fury has a longer travel fork. Although th 100mm travel on the voodoo should be ok and the voodoo is race face finished

both are very capable and very well specced for the dosh, also look at Merlins malt bikes which are handbuilt and also some very well specced, as well as decathlons rockrider range which seems to have fans at the minute

I've mentioned it a few times now but paulscycles.co.uk also has a very good range of older specced bikes

Paulscycles can have some very good deals. But tbh the Giant hardtails need a huge discount to compete with the Halfords bikes.

  • I have a Fury and it's a great bike. Well specced and very capable. Customer service of course tends to be shite, but if you can live with that..

It's always a good idea to try these bikes out though. Just cos one person likes one bike, it doesn't mean it's going to be liked by another.
