whilst getting to grips with my GT over the last few months i'm gradually killing parts as the weeks go by and today my chain was my next victim.
So my question is - will any old off the shelf chain fit or do i need a specific type?
I have a 9 speed rear mech.
I want to replace as it looks shot to hell and is stiff in places.

you will need a chain of the same speed. and then you will need to size it.

see how to on Park tools.
