An aquaintance of mine is selling his Bianchi Via Nirone 7 C2C (56cm frame) for £300. He's had it since september 2009. it seems to be in good condition and the reviews I've read say good things.

I'm a rookie road biker. Is this a good first road bike to buy at that price? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks

seems like a good 09 bike for the money. what sort of components does it have?

i would buy it if i haven't already bought a cinelli xperience :).

You need to take it for a test ride as well.

That will tell you if it suits you.

Its got carbon forks and a carbon seat post. I've just asked to provide me with further details of the components. I'll post them up as soon as i've got them.

I was thinking that £300 is a bit steep for a used bike. Hopefully, if i buy it, it works out well.

    What groupset does it have?

They're Shimano but exactly what model I'm yet to find out. Is there a specific brand/model groupset that I should avoid?

A pal of mine has this year and model with 105 shifters and mechs but it had FSA crankset. If this is the same spec id say its a bargain for that money based on the fact that it was £999 new. Even if its lower spec group then the cheapest i seen them was about £850 i think. So either way i think its pretty good value. I may be wrong about the £850 being the cheapest tho so bear that in mind.

Cant remember what his wheels are so that may be worth finding out too.

    Good luck

As above - seems pretty good value depending on what groupset and is less than a year old. But it isn't good value if it doesn't fit you, so try before you buy!
