Having a bit of a last-minute nightmare with roofbars. We bought some Atera Signo bars for use with the roofbox. They howl from 50mph. The company we bought them from now tells us they're not suitable for touring and only good for short journeys.
We then got the genuine Audi bars from the dealer and they too whine over about 45mph.
We used to use the same roofbox on the A4 bars and never had any problems with noise. Now trying to find out what's causing the noise and plug any gaps.
Just wondered what experience others have with A6 bars or Signo bars?

Found a set of genuine Audi bars on fleabay several years ago and now onto 3rd A6. Never had a problem with noise even when travelling at "ahem" slightly above the legal limit. Doesn't do much for the fuel consumption, but it's always been crap anyway. (25-30mpg  )0

Are these used in conjunction with a factory mounted luggage rack? If so, I used Yakima racks that clamp onto the factory bars for two years without issue.
The nice thing is that they are easily transferred to other cars with similar factory luggage racks.
Yakima may not be available in the UK, I had my Mom ship them to me but a couple of mates here in the states are using similar Thule racks on a Volvo estate and Mitsubishi saloon without a problem.0 -
