Thinking of a day trip to Afan tomorrow....
Is Penhydd open now? Doesnt mention it being shut on the MBWales website but if anyone knows for sure that'd be cool.
Also probably wont get there until 11ish - how late can I be out on the trails - visitors centre shuts at 6 but I assume I can keep rolling until later than that right? My plan is to get there, fire off a quick Penhydd, have some lunch then tackle W2 (after suitably thorough bike wash to prevent spreading pestilence) so maybe finish that 7-8pm? Want to make sure I am not going to get locked in the car park or something.
Other thing the diversion to get there looks a pain in the ass, is it?

Im pretty sure penhydd is closed all year for forestry workhttp://mbwales.com/en/content/cms/Centres/Afan_Forest_Park/Afan_Forest_Park.aspx and the diversion is quite easy at the first road block turn left the straight over the mini roundabout then cut through the estate one part of the road looks like some dodgy alley then under a low bridge and take a hard right almost 180 degrees follow the road untill you pass the new build estate on your right then take the next right follow the road round until you see a right turn over a small bridge then your back onto the normal afan road hope this helps and more importantly makes sense.
oh and enjoy the ride0 -
Something's just come up so I am not going now but will go Monday instead.
Cheers for the directions, they look.....interesting. Missed that about the Penhydd on the website - they should put a note on the Penhydd trail page for dipsticks like me.

He makes those directions sound much harder than it is
Find tesco garage, turn down the road under the M4 (need to double back on yourself via roundabout to get here), it's signposted from there in which ever way you drive.0
