Tougher tube on the front or rear,(for DH/FR)? I'm thinking rear as you steer the front around stuff and the rear often hits stumps etc.?

use the same. Maxxis DH tubes."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Depends on the tyre IMO. I ran a paper-thin Cheng Shin tube inside a SnakeSkin Nic all last year and it never flatted. A blackthorn got it in the end but I patched it and carried on using it through Winter.0
