i found this on the 'bay' and was wondering if anyone has used one, or is using one? are they any good? does it work ? my running gear is right for the job as it is pretty specific about that. it looks good and well made from what i can see, and i intend to use it for my 1x9 set up !

seems a total faff in terms of fitting and compatability after reading the sellers product discription.
    you really need a 38 T rear cog ?
    wouldn't go 1 x 9 if you do.

Agreed, if you can't make a 36t work, go for a smaller chainring, or don't go 1x9!

Seriously?! Better off using a smaller front cog than getting a larger rear I'd suggest.

  • thanks for the thoughts...its good to hear other peoples opinions.... i was thinking it would give you a larger 'spread' of gear ratios with the 1 x9 setup.

why do you need a lager spread?

what are you using the bike for?

  • im more of an enduro rider ....so having a low enough gear for the long extended climbs (30 minute climbs plus ) is good ....but having a high enough gear to keep a good top speed on the flats and down hills.....all with the simplictiy of not having a front derailluer...more bottom bracket clearance for the rough stuff...and hopefully no chain suck !!!

Well you take a sprocket off the bottom, so it shifts the range, rather than giving a wider spread surely.

If you want a wider spread why not go for a double chainset, there's novel!

it may well do that in lower ranges but....
the jumps between gears wouldn't feel to clever and may not make it a nice ride.
1 x 10 with a 11-36 cassette would be my ideal choice cash permitting. :D

Go for a twing and device if you want more range, or go for a single up front and push when needed

Just change the front ring to a smaller ring - if you run a 34t at the front you will have a reasonable low gear, you could even go 32t but you'r loosing a lot of high end that way.

What front cog do you currently run?
