It was mentioned by Kleber in the spoiler thread and it was certainly true that the shots were magnificant. I remember seeing a poll once on why people watch the Tour and a large % of people said so they could see the views from the helicopters etc. It is a lovely area of France which I am familar with and there is some great riding around there and the last few stages.

Had the pleasure of working in the Haute Alpes for a summer many moons ago. It truly is a magnificent part of the world.

It's a fantastic advert for French tourism. As much as I enjoy watching the Tour, you really want to be riding in these places too. Not that all of France is as scenic, some of the places in the north can be downright grim.0

Must agree...I was in the area 2yrs ago touring around France for a month..also spent time in the Jura..Masieff..Dordogne... plus the Tarn Gourge areas... France has some beautiful hidden gems esp..when you get off the beaten track.....I'll be there again in September..hope the weathers as good as last time....0
