Shimano ax/ex DYNA-drive pedal adapters, Retro 80's

Calling out to all you oldies out there.
I'm after some pedal adapters that convert the 80's Dura-Ace AX or 600 EX cranks that used a system called DYNA Drive. The design placed the foot approx 1.5cm below the virtual axle, positioning the rider lower on the bike, resulting in less drag and a lower point of gravity.
Problem is you have to use special Dyna drive pedals that has a large axle. The adapters I'm after convert the cranks to accept standard 9/16 pedals.
Be good to get these cranks working, as their NOS and I'd like to try 165mm cranks. Hoping that someone might have some buried in the shed somewhere
Cheers, Andy.

I found this thread on another forum - http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52180. It sounds like there's an LBS somewhere that can make the adapters.0

Hi, thanks for the suggestions.
I've contacted the guy off the RetroBike link and he's offered to get some made but wants quite a lot of money. Doesn't seem keen to give me direct details of the LBS that makes them, but then again everyone has their price. Don't really know if there worth that much
Thanks for the ebay link. Not really after the original oversized pedals but the adapters that screw into the cranks to convert them to accept standard 9/16 threaded pedals. Hey, but thanks anyhow...Fear is your only god. Fear me!!0 -

If you know a friendly engineer, you might be able to get them made. The left hand thread would be a niggle but it's not too complicated a job. Chris Bell is good but you pay a premium. Pity the guy on Retro doesn't give his locality. You could ask all the bike shops in his vicinity!0 -
Pity the guy on retrobike is more interested in lining his pocket than helping out a fellow cyclist. It looks like a small engineering company could be the best option. As Weejie54 says, the left hand thread will need a special die but a decent engineering shop should be able to do it..... or take Monty's advice and contact Highpath.0

I bought some of these from http://www.loosescrews.com a few years ago but cannot see them on their site anymore.
I may be able to give you a pair if you don't mind something that is very knocked about (but still functional) - they can be hell to get the pedal out of!
I had both the Dura Ace and 600 versions and got good use out of them but the square tapers are now hopelessly out of shape.0 -

That's really kind of you Plug1n. If you can find them that would be great. I've got to the stage where I'm not too fussed about the cosmetics, just want to get the cranks working with my standard fit pedals.
Let me know want you want for them plus your postage/packaging costs and I can send you a cheque, postal order or paypal, whatever's easiest for you.
Hope to hear from you soon, Cheers Andy.
PS - Thanks for all the replies. Didn't think anyone would know or remember the old Dyna Drive system .Fear is your only god. Fear me!!0 -

Just wanted to let everyone know what a top bloke Plug1n is. He sent me some adapters and wont accept anything for them.
You don't get that too often these days. Without Plug1n and this forum I would've been stuffed.
So 'thanks to Plug1n and everyone who replied'.
PS - If anyone knows Plug1n's address then please PM me, I'd like to get something to him to cover his trouble. Cheers Andy.Fear is your only god. Fear me!!0
