Just got my kenda nevs from on one, no where near 550g, lightest is 618g. But for a 2.1, why has the carcass been stamped 2.35?

Stuff European rules on bendy bananas how about one on real bike and component weights????

    hmmm, interesting

why don't you try stopping weighing things and MTFU

and maybe the reason it's heavier is that it is a 2.35?

Excuse me for stating the obvious, but if they're heavier than they said, and they're stamped 2.3, perhaps they sent you 2.3 by mistake.

I weigh bits out of interest to see if the website claim is correct. Don't tell me to mtfu. They're 2.1 tomac dtc's and marked as such on the outside, but the inside of the carcass is stamped 2.35.

If weights not an issue just go and get a 25kg apollo.

which according to the kenda us website is exactly what they should weigh
  • The nevegal lite-dtc is 550g +-30g... which is apparently what is being offered at on one.
    mis advertising?
Although it doesn't actually say its the nevegal lite dtc really... I don't like on-one. they're a very sly company at times!

also, look at the description in the tyre list..
    http://www.on-one.co.uk/c/q/tyres-and-tubes

it says "Available in: 2.2 in, 26 in"

then when you click the nev its a 2,1

There is no 2.1 Nevegal Lite, Nevegal Lite is just another name for the 1.95. Kenda claim 630g for the 2.1 DTC or 640g for the SWS version so yours are actually underweight, it's On One's claims that are off. And to be fair that looks like an error rather than a trick, but who knows. But no Kenda fibs here, they've underpromised in fact.

The different numbers thing is odd though, I've had that myself, a tyre stickered as 2.35 but stamped as 2.5, which came up somewhere around 2.4. Weird. But it's ace so I don't mind, wish they were all like that ;)

They're cheap at the moment. £10 for a nevegal if you get their emails.

    Exactly that reason.

Ok so on one got the weights wrong, but Kenda are still selling a tyre marked on the outside as a 2.1 but the carcass is marked 2.35. But this size is still smaller than the RK 2.2 that's been taken off, and isn't much bigger than the 1.8 sauserwind. When I tried 2.1 Speed Kings they were smaller than the 1.95 IRC Mythos 2 that they replaced.

I'd just like to be able to think 'ahh I want a tyre this size' and buy one. But you can't, there's no continuity in sizing from any of the manufacturers. Good job they don't do this with their car tyres.

A 2.3 Small Block 8 I bought recently came out about 120g overweight on my digital scales, bumf with it says +/- 25g (or 30) so way over their stated threshold. A panaracer rampage came out 5g under weight

It's a 2.1 obviously, just what you paid for :?

You're just moaning now, you got a tyre for a tenner that weighs exactly what it's meant to, and says 2.35 in some random location, although it says 2.1 on the tyre wall, that's what you asked for, and got.

If you're the type of nerd that stays awake at night worrying about a few grams you'll never notice in a million years, you need to spend more on your kit.

Chances are the inside carcas is just one that they use for multiple tyre models. Maybe it's how they identify them at the assmbly plant? Maybe it's the maximum size of tyre they can make?????

    You worry too much.

Oh, and they do it with car tyres too, it's down to the profile shape of the tyre, some car tyres look thinner than others due to the shape of them.
