Looking into taking a holiday in the Alps next year. I wish to take my bike and ride some of the climbs used in the tour. But also want to keep her in doors pleased. As long as there’s a pool she will be happy while I’m out murdering myself. Also the days not riding we would like to take in some walking. Any suggestions on places to stay to strike the happy medium?

  • Most places are good, we get quite a few non riders. The Portes du Soleil also does a multipass for non-riders to use lifts, pool, tennis courts, buses etc etc for €1 per day which is great to keep people happy! You can also do things like her chill out at the lake, and you do a ride that ends there and meet for a picnic. The one thing you won't be able to prepare for though is weather - it can rain pretty heavily in the Alps at any time - just something to prepare for.....

You could also throw in a few days in a pretty town like Annecy for her - you could even ride round it (TTin last year's TdF!) while she shops.
