I may not have been posting very much recently but my activity on here has now brought me to the attention of the net nazis at work and they have blocked the forum during work hours   Does anyone know a work arround to get over this, or am I stuck

Strictly speaking - any attempts to bypass work filters for 'net browsing is a disciplinary offense and may lead to dismissal. As one of the 'net Nazis ( ) I think it only fair to warn you.

However.... go look up onion routing and enjoy the research, but don't say I didn't warn you.... as you've come to the attention of said security bods you may find your browsing being scrutinised alot more. Even the most basic web monitoring software can drill down to an individual's browsing and see every site they've visited.

Rich, just leave work earlier and use the extra time at home on the interweb. In any event there must be a few websites that you wouldn't want to browse at work

Do they block Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)? If not you can set up remote access to your home PC and just surf through that 8)

If they don't block RDP out to the 'net they should be shot. However, you can change the listening port for RDP and use one that isn't blocked....

+1: use a SmartPhone. Deliberately bypassing internet filters is asking for trouble.

You could use hidemyass.com but again it might get you deeper in the shite. How about asking nicely to get access during lunch hours?

My company has both wired and wireless networks. If something is blocked via the wired network you can often access it by simply pulling the wire out of the back of your laptop...

I usually try to get access via i-phone, but then excessive phone use is also frowned upon so if I'm constantly fiddling with my phone I'm liable to end up in the shite again. We're allowed 15 mins max for all personal communications during work hours through the day. Thanks KB you've confirmed my suspicions.

What really irks me is that as one of the most productive members of staff I get in the shite for leaving the forum open and occasionally updating it through the day, whilst other people sit about talking doing feck all work

Sorry rant over, it's 1:55, back to the grindstone

Blimey, and after you represented the company at the Nocturne as well. Mind you, I've just had a quick look at your company website, and you don't keep that many people employed in that sector without running a very tight ship, so I'm not surprised they're a bit authoritarian.

I used to work with a guy who brought his PSP in and connected to the open wireless network, that existed specifically for clients & customers visiting the site. His logical and correct argument was that there was no chance of him being traced on the network, so he spent the days using it to d/l films etc for later consumption.

It relied on anonymity in numbers though, and the existence of an open wireless network. And a PSP. :)

Oh and the internet connection is so damn slow it really is faster to use a smart phone or MiFi connection.
