Some things are unnerveing/frightening

Back end of last year Birmingham CID came onto site at work, a rare occurance that police visit. Of course this caused a stir and rumours abounded.The last comment from one of the officers was "say your goodbyes, 'cos with what we have on him he won't be back anytime soon".

Well it transpires, last week this bloke was found guilty of internet grooming of a 15year old autistic girl and a fourteen year old girl both of whom he met up with and raped.

Although I didn't know him very well I knew him to say hello too or (aye up, anyway). You just don't know do you, very unnerveing.

I had quite a long conversation with a paedophile once - he'd served prison time, been chased out of his house, etc.

I didn't realise what he was talking about at first, he just kept going on about how he'd never done anybody harm, he just wanted to love.

A very strange, and seemingly disturbed man, he seemed genuinely convinced that he loved the children and that they loved him back.

I went to a seminar a few years back about the work of the british board of film censors and they said that the ratings for films are a nonsense as their research showed that it wasnt films that paedos had in their posession but.....the mothercare catalogue. Gofigure.

At school we had a Maths teacher and Rowing Coach, who we used to sing a song about him being a paedophile.

The irony was that one he just never turned up to school one academic year - normally we got told when teachers were leaving, but not this case and the other teachers wouldn't tell us. 12 months later it became public that he was actually a paedophile and tried to commit suicide after being taken into custody.

Erm, aren't the ratings to stop children seeing "adult themes", not to stop adults seeing children? :?

we managed to get a teacher grooming and stalking a 10 year old girl in and out of school, the police dropped the case and he still tries to get jobs in schools on the back of not being prosecuted in his head making him totally innocent. We get phone calls and reference requests.

In the eyes of the law if someone isn't prosecuted they are innocent, regardless of the "crime"

No, the point was that which we deem socially unacceptable we rate; but to the deviant mind even the most innocent material can be a source of validation for their behaviour.

When i was at school we had a parent\teacher evening and my parents attended. On returning home my Mother said she found one of my teachers to be a very charming and pleasant man and she really enjojed the chat she had with him.about me. Around 4 -5 years later i recieved a phone call from my Mother. She had attended a party and got talking to another parent who had a son at the same school and was in the same year as me. She told my Mother that this teacher that she thought the world of had been tried and convicted of having sex with under age boys and that he was in jail. Have to say my Mum was devastated, she could not believe it.From a personal point of view i cannot believe that i was taught by a man that was capable of doing something like that.

Got a bloke opposite me who was caught in a big child porn internet bust a few years back. He lost his job as a teacher but avoided jail and got a community sentence and was banned from being near kids for a few years. He had a child of his own shortly after who is now in nursery and none of the other parents knew, some had even had their kids go for tea at his house. Eventually the school found out - his ban has recently ended and he's back picking his kid upo from school despite being asked to stay. Always a bit of a worry having him in the area with young girls of my own hopefully his house will sell soon.

Frightening in the respect I had no idea (nor did anyone else) of this mans "secret" which happened to be peadophilia. Another person could be a psycho killer for all I know.

So ii's frightening 'cos we may think we know people but, do we really?
