Hi I am having trouble setting up my front mech. I have newish ultegra levers which I think can be adjusted for a double or triple set up & a double front mech. I fitted a new cable but cannot get it set up properly. At the moment it doesn't shift into the big ring very easily. Previous attempts had it not shifting into the small ring at all. Any tips to share? Cheers!

Only the 9sp Ultegra 6510 shifters came standard as double or triple.
They are easy to spot comapred to the original 6500 version by the black paddle instead of grey

Later 6600 models were double OR triple and not both

You need to pull back the hood on the left hjand shifter and check the part number

A triple may be either 6603 part number

Is the cable too tight? You might need to slacken it a bit.

Had a look and they are ST 6600 shifters. They came on a cannondale bike which had a double set up. Do they perhaps have an extra position to set trim?

6600 has a trim position, see...

also read the fd set-up instructions for your fd, same website

assuming nothing is bent, broken, or gundged up, it should be a straightforward job

ST6600 are double only. The triple is ST6603. They do indeed have a trim position. Just make sure you do any adjustments with the lever in the full movement positions. The trim will more or less look after itself.

Worked it out yesterday. Attached the cable from the wrong side of the clamp bolt so it had been fouling the inside of the derailler cage. What a numpty I am. Cheers for the replies!
