Scott SUB 40 or Sportster P6 2009

I am going to begin commuting to work, entirely on city streets and not far at all, and am going to buy a good bike. I've never owned a bike that cost more the $100 USD before. So, I was looking to buy the Scott SUB 40, but when I went into my local bike shop, they have the Scott Sportster P6 2009 on sale for $350. The SUB 40 is $550. Other than the fact that the SUB 40 looks really sweet, is there any reason why I should not buy the P6?

    They look pretty similarly specced, the main difference I can see is the Sub has an 11-30 cassette and the Sportster only 14-28, but you could swap that with the money you save. The P6 is also a pound heavier.
