Any guys out there who know their TV's. Looking for a good TV with all the mod cons, but within a sensible budget range. Cheers

What size are you looking at.

Theres a guide here from sony.

The Bravias always get a good review

I've got a sony bravia with built in freeview hd, love it. kd40 ex403 i think the model is, very happy with it.
Consequences.... are just a harmless by-product of having a good time, all the time.

have a look at Richer Sounds or similar. TV technology is pushing all the time so paying eg £1k for a state of the art TV is not a good idea unless you have money to burn. TV's used to be a major purchase and you expected to keep them 10 years. Now they come with 3 year warranties for £300 (that's £2 a week) and at the end of 3 years the shops will be stocking the next gen. models

that is because they only transmit the signal at 720p or 1080i, not enough band width.

I think I've got that one too, can't get freeview hd round here though so I had to spring for Sky. Not at al to watch the tour in HD no of course not my love.

Just bought a Panasonic TX-L37Gsomething or other - pleased with it. Very good picture from an angle - some aren't that viewable unless you watch pretty straight on.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

If you buy from John Lewis you get a free 5 year warranty - they will price match with Richer Sounds if you find a shop with the TV you want on display/in stock. You can find out the finer details of how to do it on AVForums - a good place to do some research too.

We got a samsung 432 inch LCD one last year that is great picture freeview HD ready and all that, but it regularly refuses tro respond to the remote and needs turning off to reconnect. Repairs can't find whats up with it. minor but bliooming frustrating when the go compare advert comes on and the mute doesn't work.

Brought this model for the World Cup. Marvellous pictures, mega contrast and wafer thin.

However, I can confirm that England were as c**p in HD as they were when I watched them in SD.

See my post above . They're brilliant and use alot less power since you can't leave on standby.

LEDs have much darker blacks, so the picture is much richer.

I wouldn't get an LCD now that LEDs are good enough for HD.
