i laugh in the face of those who say insect hits hurt.

I wiggle my posterior at you.

Coming in this morning, I got a full-on bird strike right into the side of my helmet!

Cruising along, getting thoroughly wet and enjoying myself, a bloody great sparrow flew out of a gap between the trees and bounced off the side of my helmet.

By 'eck, that smarts! I stayed on the bike okay but wobbled a fair bit, glanced over to see this sparrow describing weird little loops in the sky as it was clearly more stunned than me

Fook that was shock

Way less damage than the last time I had a bird strike commuting - cost me a new windscreen that did.

My Dad lost a wing mirror to a wood pigeon - it shat itself all down the side of his car (wll, to be fair, I think it exploded...)

Amazingly accurate sir, I must say!

Good job it wasn't any bigger, eh?

If it was any bigger, it would've needed engines!

Isn't it bad luck to kill an albatross - or just bad luck to be in it's way whilst wearing a cape?!

Whilst pedalling along the seafront near Fleetwood last weekend I was hit on the bonce by a mussel dropping seagull.

Wearing a helmet saved my life etc etc etc.

Being followed by one is good luck, killing it is bad luck - see Rime of the Ancient Mariner, S. T. Coleridge (1798).

:) That would be an amusing selling point..

"Bird strike" - not bad in the bragging stakes.

I got a "Bin lorry strike" last autumn. That DID sting.

(I did manage to smash the buG@er's windscreen though, and it was his fault. And the payout was very generous. Just as well I was on the FG machine, and not one of the carbon beauties, otherwise the claim would have been astronomical).

I was really hoping to have the bird (feathered type, perve-boys) stuck in the lid. You gotta admit that would be one hell of a photograph :D
