Try Mugdock Park/West Highland way near Milngavie to the North-there is an MTB riding group that meet up there on Wednesday nights I think-

Cathkin Braes-venue for the Commonwealth Games XC route

Pollock Park has a skills loop and some nice singletrack runs around the rest of the park if you look hard enough
You can also ride alongside the River Kelvin up to Milnagvie from the city centre with a few enjoyable loops at the various parks en route not really hardcore though!
Lanarkshire MTB have a website and ride in Strathcyde country park in the week

Glasgow MTB meet up group organise rides and stuff to

    Where are you based?

We ARE a nice bunch!! Plenty more rides being posted up, keep an eye on the Calendar for more varied stuff. Lots of routes up Mugdock/Carbeth, but also like to get further afield.

Did the Kilpatricks last week. Up Cochno Hill and across the ridges round Jaw Reservoir to Loch Humphrey and down the road/path above the quarry. How do you get over to Carbeth? I see paths which reach over to Carbeth further up the hills at Burncrooks Reservoir - but how do you get to them?
  • I have a good map of the Kilpatricks route around there, PM me and I will email it to you.
I am organising a Mountain bike challenge in lennox forest which is in east dunbartonshire on Sun 26th Sep 2010 which is free to enter. you are welcome to come along. see the appropriate thread in the rides section to get entry info etc.

Think there are a few paths that go past the hills, more like sheeptrack that cross over. I didn't go theer on Saturday, but did some Mugdock, then the pipetrack to Glengoyne and back the WHW.
