    I agree, £150 tops.

Regarding changing the colour IMHO not worth the expense it since it looks OK.

    ok thanks for the help.

were is certini from? I've never heard of them and can;t find anything out from google. Also, how much would you say a colour change would cost?

    thanks :D

Certini are in Plymouth - years ago, shops gave themselves Italian-sounding names to appear more exotic - off-the-peg frames were given fancy monikers. Another example is Rondelli from Ron Spencer Cycles in Warrington.
I expect your frame is UK-built Reynolds 531c tubing and is probably about 15 years old - £150 would be a fair price. For a respray, expect to pay upwards of £80 for single colour, frame and forks.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Great reply thanks.

Is that £80 for a shop to do it, or £80 for me to spray it myself? Definitely not worth it at that price!!

£80 would be for a basic single-colour powdercoat from a refinisher. You may be able to find a local refinisher who' do it for less - you'd have to strip down the frame, remove headset, BB and mask off threads etc.

looks like a Columbus sticker on the seattube. Either way, it's not worth the effort to re-paint it...

That's what I thought but I didn't want to argue with the OP.

All I'd do is is to give it a good once over, check to see if tyres, chain and cables need replacing and put some new handlebar tape on.

Agreed. They made a lot of bikes in Columbus Aelle. Roughly equivalent to Reynolds 501.
Certini are based in Saltash, Cornwall - just across from Plymouth.

I bought both mine and my wife and sons bikes from certini, the shop is split between a workshop on the right and a specialized concept store on the left.
Give them a call about the bike and they will be more than happy to advise you they give fantastic service. 01752 849315

I have a Certini but have NEVER seen or heard of another.
    - Altec Columbus 7005 Aluthron Alloy frame, Yellow
    - Wedge Kinesis carbon forks (black)
    - Campag Chorus Groupset (10 speed)

Here it is. And yes I know it's a terrible photo....
I emailed them for some background and the replied:
we custom built these bikes abut 10 years ago, we had a full range available, and they were really popular, most bkes were bought off the peg and it was difficult to change groupsets and bars/stem etc so we offered a frame, groupset, wheel & component package that you could pick and mix.
Any more Certini-ites lurking out there?

    Mr S,

If the bike hasn't moved too far from home and you want it resprayed, then SL Powder Coating in Plymouth will do it for £45 (google for a tel no - no website).

They were recommended to me by another powder coating firm who only did commercial stuff. Can't actually vouch for SL myself as I couldn't get the bottom bracket out without destroying it, so didn't actually get a respray in the end. But the bloke on the phone was very friendly, and if the bike is down this way I didn't find many other places.
