hi does anyone own a van nicholas mistral? i'm thinking of doing some sportive riding next summer and fancy something a bit different. i was wondering what its like to live with and what the comfort levels are like? or should i do what everyone else seems to be doing and go for the cannondale six? which is a lovely bike, but is it a bit souless? any advice would be great.

thanks peeps

Hey my man bike junkie I have only ever seen a Mistral but never ridden. I have a Yukon and a Euros both of which are superbe. Just upgraded my Yukon to Mavic ksyerium Elite wheels shod with a set of Schwalbe Ultremo tyres, and it is so nice. I have found that Van Nicholas bikes do what they say and do it well. So if you decide to get a Mistral I do not think you will be disappointed. Update the site should you decide to get I would be interested.

Have never ridden either, but that van Nicholas Mistral is going to be my next purchase when my bonuses come in.

Hi, i have a VN Euros, which is basically a Mistral with curvy seat stays. It is a great basic Ti frame, no gaudy graphics and a nice brushed satin finish. No paint to chip, just buff up with a scotchbrite pad and wipe over with WD40 to look like new again.
I built mine up from frame / forks with Sram Rival groupset and Aksium wheels and for me it gives a very comfy ride. Also i like a quiet ride and with everything greased and tightened i sail along with no clicks or creaking.
Overall an excellent Ti bike for the price , you will not be disappointed :D
He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!
  • thanks guys. i'm gonna take a trip up to epsom and check them out in the flesh. i love the thought of owning a titanium bike. there are some absoloutely gorgeous carbon bikes out there but it seems to be a mine feild. fantastic as they are its just too confusing. i haven't ruled out building my own van. i'd love to own a sram equipped bike. and a very good freind of mine has offered me a very sexy pair of fulcrum racing zeros  but sensible head on now, i think the mistral would be a great starting point as i'm no lance armstrong..........yet
  • Rick! if you beat me to it mate, can you let me now you get on? cheers bud
