Hey folks,
Just wondering if rain would stop you guys n gals from going out to your local trail?
I've been dying to get out all week but it's just started pissing now!
I'm at two minds! I should prolly just MTFU right? :-)

If we only rode in fair weather...it would seriously reduce the number of days riding is possible...
man up wet pants!Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

I have a love hate thing with rain. I really enjoy a rain ride, but I can't bring myself to START a ride when it's already raining.0

I'm really looking forward to Monday because it's supposed to be raining so it'll hopefully make a ride bearable. Can't stand this bloody hot weather :evil:0

It's bucketing it down here at the moment, promising a very wet weekend too.0

Ditto.
I have always enjoyed every single ride - rain or sun - but there is something very depressing about getting out of a nice dry car / house to set off in the rain. I find accepting that you're going to get soaked the best plan, even if you wear a waterproof if you put any vague effort in you'll end up soaked on the inside! Best just leap out and go for it..... (I never do this mind - I sit in the car whinging until the last possible second  )Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....

Only 25? Hit 31 here earlier, should be 30 again tomorrow.
Wet rides are damn good fun imo.0 -

I think 25 is the coolest it's supposed to get - it's been 29 today. If that was farenheit I'd be fine0 -
Yep, i wear glasses and can't see shite all when it's raining, so it tends to keep me off the bike... could do with some contacts really.0

Surely riding in the rain is what riding in the UK is all about? I actually quite enjoy it to be honest - trails and quieter and it all makes the summer rides like I am enjoying now really appechiated!0

This.
Had a few in the snow as well. The woods were amazing, but a bugger to pedal through.

For several days this winter there wasn't quite enough snow low down for cross country skiing and I had cabin fever big time. So I took the mtb out on trails partly covered in snow, at night, in the rain / sleet. I've mountain biked down to -15C, below that it's no fun ;-)
Waterproof trousers and jacket, Sealskinz hat (wonderful), clear cycling glasses, snowboarding mittens, overshoes and bloody big lights.
Much more of a problem in summer when it's warm as you sweat inside the waterproofs.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

I went out for what I would have to call a mamouth ride. Was dry when I set off but within 5 mins it was chucking it down. Put the rain coat on, keeps me dry from the rain BUT it makes me damp inside (oer) although I don't get cold. Anyway after 10 miles it had stopped raining and I took the coat off and it was soaked inside - that is why I currently hate the rain as I am thinking I may need a more breathable coat.
Think I enjoyed the ride but certainly biggest (25-30miles)I have done and how come it is always uphill?
If I only rode in the dry I would hardly get out....0 -
Depends, in winter what choice do you have? But in summer, yeah, if I think there'll be a drier day tomorrow I'll wait. On local trails I like to stay off them when they're wet as far as possible too.Uncompromising extremist0

I really don't care what the weather is doing.
So long as I am out on the bike enjoying myself, thats all I care about.
It's enevitable that its going to rain, this is Britain0 -

I wish it would bl00dy well rain. I'm getting a serious sweat on the bike and a bit of rain would cool me off nicely."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

All conditions are interesting. The British climate especially makes my local runs so different in each type of weather.
Though I'm also put off if it's dark miserable and chucking it down before I leave the house. Once out though it's not too bad. It's less hassle when under the cover of trees in a forest. I've done totally drenched rides before.
A little bit of drizzle today would be great to take the edge of the heat!
Snow... now that's fun0 -

+1
I went out on Thursday after it had rained and got soaked brushing through head high bracken but loved it, like riding in the rain if it starts after I am out but getting on the bike to ride when its already raining is a hard one - maybe if you know its going to stop soon.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
Well I don't mind a rain ride but like some have said already its just starting it ! but on a nicer note its getting hotter by the hour over here so I am going 4 a short 7mile ride then off for a BBQ2010 Orange Crush Custom
