Pedals wont come off

They have a 6mm hex hole on the back. Its the left side stuck - Yes i do know its reverse thread and which way to turn it.

I've tried a wrench, allen key and socket set. I've tried heat and they are soaking in penetrating oil at this very moment. I dont have a crank puller so cant get the cranks off.

Is there away i can stop the cranks moving and the bike so i can get max leverage?

Secure the opposing crank to the chainstay with a toe strap.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

How long should i heat the pedal with a butane/propane torch?

Till the alloy starts dripping on the floor.

Not very long. 5 seconds or so? You want the alloy to expand a bit, and before the steel axle gets hot.

Don't do what I did and use the WD40 immediately before the blowtorch, or else you'll be asking your other half to draw your eyebrows back on with a pencil.

Just long enough to destroy the temper of the al alloy so that it will quickly crack when you start using it again.

OK, if you're really really sure you've got the direction sussed, try an extension bar on your spanner. You may break the spanner though.

Have you tried a whack on the spanner with a hammer? Bit of shock often helps.

find someone who can hit the pedal spindle with a steel hammer whilst you are applying pressure with the spanner. maybe they can strike the jaws of the spanner while theyre gripping the axle. the shock should give it a hard time.

You could try tightening them a bit first and then loosening. Can work at times.

Start with the non drive side.
Turn the crank to the 9pm position so you have room to work.
Seat the allen key fully into the pedal - get your self some pipe as an extension or use bits and bobs from a socket set to create more leverage.
As you look down at the pedal you are going to loosen it by turning the allen key CLOCKWISE.... i.e. turning it back towards the bottom bracket.

    Drive side .. anti clockwise...

that works for my Cannondale... apologies if not appropriate.

You been probably want a 12 -15 of extension to create enough leverage without giving yourself a hernia.

get crank slighty above horizontal, pointing toward front of bike

using a chunky wrench with a ratchet, 3/8" drive (1/4" might shear), with hex bit for pedal

    insert hex key into pedal

align wrench so it is about level, extending forwards from the crank

rest end of wrench on kerbside, step, something really solid

slowly stand on the pedal, watch out as once it frees up it'll drop fast

having someone else to steady things will help
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny
