Cat Eye Strada Wireless Sensor mount position

Purchased a cateye wireless and very pleased, however, just wanted to raise a small but important safety issue. According to the instructions the sensor should be mounted to the back of the right front fork. Well I did this and set the spoke mounted magnet with a 3mm clearance. Ok so far and all is working fine after the set up procedure. It then became apparent that if the sensor slipped around towards the wheel. Because of its rear mount position it would catch on the magnet and cause untold damage to the sensor wheel or both. (Not Good)
I have since altered the position to the front of the left fork, and everything works just great. The only differance is that the wheels direction will now cause the magnet on the spoke to glance pass the sensor, which I feel is much safer. If any of you guys has one of these, check it out. I am sure you will see what I mean. I also used slightly heavier guage zip ties as the original were a bit flimsy. Other than that, its a nice piece of kit. :D

Most on here would advise that any fork sensors are place in a forward position, for those reasons, but, even more importantly, if you were riding it when the sensor/spoke collided, you'd be over the handle bars!...

Agreed Hopper, could be very nasty. Just surprised that the cateye instructions would tell you to mount the sensor in such a dodgy position. :o

Why's it dodgy? I've got my magnet set up so just in case the sensor gets pushed round, the magnet pushes the sensor back out again due to it being on an angle.

I never understood this theory either, if the sensor is pushed into the wheel it will be pushed out by spokes and or sensor whilst the other way around will probably cause you to crash.

The way hopper suggested is fine, I agree completely, hence my post.
If the sensor is mounted in front of the fork tube the wheels rotation will glance the sensor back out.
Its when the sensor is mounted on the back the danger of jamming comes into play. Thats the dodgy bit anto.

Right front fork - forward! surely the only way?

20+ mph with the sensor colliding is not going to be fun!
