Hi,

I just moved to Chertsey, Surrey and have a nice Giant X5....wanna use it somewhere - can anyone point me in the direction of some good XC routes?

Cheers,
Jim.

You've got Tunnel Hill, Swinley Forest, the North Downs and the Surrey Hills, all of which offer great riding, but you'll need a guide ideally. Check the London Calling thread. Tunnel Hill Trolls meet and ride regularly around that neck of the woods, see if you can meet up with them, JasonRWMB appears on here periodically. They're a really nice bunch of guys who know every inch of trail!
  • Oh there's loads, I live in Ashford and always head towards Chertsey to begin with. Great routes to Windsor or Surrey hills (or both). Here's GPS for my last decent ride::

I've just joined the forum and am in Stanwell. I was wondering if there's anywhere worth taking the bike local to Stanwell/Ashford area?

Do you know if you can take bikes on the paths around the reservoirs?

For Surrey Hills, and thats only if you fancy lonely ride, its good to come to Peaslake. Pop into Pedal and Spoke bike shop, talk to Howard, very helpfull guy who will point you into right direction for awesome trails, and the map only costs something around £3 or so.
Otherwise as Njee said ... visit MTB rides forums -London Calling thread for casual and fun group rides.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though

Yes visiting MTB rides forums it's a good idea. Also if you register on www.sportypal.com
and make your own account, under friends, you can search for people near you, so it will give you all the tracks that they have been riding on. So it can give you brief description on some of the trails around you. Hope will help you
