currently ive got a rocky mountain slayer sxc which is great bike awesome on the downs, but I could do with something a bit more pedal freindly and lighteras it can be a bit hard work on long runs. I've seen a great deal on a commencal meta 5.5 2010 (but cant test ride) and was thinking of changing...anyone comment on if the commencal is significanlty more pedal freindly then the SXC?

Commencal has lost there way with the Meta for 2010..to many geometery changes, and lots of issues with frame brakages...to be honest I would look elsewere !0

The frame crack issues were addressed in the 2010 lineup (different manufacturer/factory).
You can get great deals with the meta now due to oversupply in the market/less demand due to the 2009 frame issue.
You should really try one out (goes for all bike purchases) to see if it suits you.0 -
Trying a Carbon Meta out tomorrow, really good value at £900 reduction.
As Dhart said the Meta issues were in 08 and 09 there have been no reported issues with the 2010 models that I have seen.
You will certainly get a lot of bike for your money with the price reductions. The hills have eyes.0 -
Been riding a 2009 Meta for some time, no issues and really happy with it.
You may want to look at wheel spec. Mine came with Sunringle rims. quite heavy and does affect speed. Likely to get complete wheel change soon.0 -
i had a 2009 meta and it was good, but my frame cracked so now have the 2010 frame.
its a good bike, but feels very diffrent with the new frame. i would try get an 09 meta and if it does eventually crack, you should be able to get a new frame under warrenty.commencal meta 5.5.30 -
So just out of interest, in what way have commencal lost there way with the 2010 meta 5?
And what are the differences in geometry between the 2009 and 2010 models?0 -
I have a 2007 meta and for the brief period of time i've owned it, it's seemed to climb very well and handle the downs nicely too.0
