Tyres

Hello!
I am currently running a rear tyre with walls of paper so get a flat on almost every ride. Im thinking of putting an old nobby nic back on to try and stop this happening. Now the issue is the nobby nic has a gash in it where it seems a knife or something has gone through the tyre. Its on the side wall. Does this make the tyre useless? Or can I still put it on? i wont be doing large drops just fairly techy and rocky trails.
Cheers!

I wouldn't use a slashed tyre.
Annoying I know but in the past 3 weeks I have destroyed two perfectly useable tyres this way, just something you have to put up with and get a new tyre.
I always keep a few spares in the car so that it doesn't ruin a whole day if it happens mid ride0
