Hello I am new to cycling I have a allez sport 2010. I have had it a month now I have done no cleaning or greasing etc.. What should I be doing on a regular bases to keep the bike in good running order. What products should I be using to clean and grease.

Just make sure its clean and the chain is lubed, but don't over do it.

The cables may have streatched by now, so, if you can, go back to the shop and they shoud adjust it for free

  • I usually give the bike and chain a good Muck Off clean once every couple of weeks, and then wash it down with the hose, dry and lube the bits that need lubing. The chain usually gets a good squirt of lube every couple of rides.
During the winter, depending on the weather, I usually clean the bike after every ride, and the chain one a week.

Don't use degreaser (such as WD-40) to clean hubs, axles, bottom bracket or headset - they need grease to work. I learned the hard way that a mucky well-lubricated bike is much healthier than a pristine one whose wheels don't go round because you've dissolved all the grease in the hubs.

Lubricate the chain regularly (I do it weekly though some insist on after every ride) but don't overdo it or grit will stick to it - wipe off the excess afterwards, you should be left with it dry on the outside.

Cleaning the braking surfaces on the wheel rims every now and then can make a big difference to braking performance.

    I use (in this order):

    Muc-Off bike spray
    Water
A spritz of GT-85 to displace water from bits that I don't want to leave wet
Pedro's chain cleaner on a rag to wipe the chain
Finish Line wet chain lubricant (with the green top)

    That's it.
