Is it wrong??

Haven't been out for weeks, so was feeling pretty low and, frankly, was getting to the stage where I couldn't be bothered lubing the chain and getting the bike rolling again. Anyway, I forced myself out of bed a few minutes early yesterday, threw together some riding gear and put the bike in the car, all set for a ride after work. No formal arrangements in place - my cunning plan was just to turn up at the usual time and count on the usual crew being there. They weren't, so I rode alone. And had a great time. Set my own pace all the way round, didn't stop at any of the usual places bar one, said Hi to a few new faces (including two gnarly girls, one sporting bizzare red tyres on a nicely red-and-white themed Prophet), and was glad of no witnesses to an embarasing low speed tumble out of a rut.
And after rocking the trails, I rocked my daughter's Hannah Montana CD in the car on the way home. Is it so wrong? Does it make me a bad person? After weeks off the bike, the lyric "you'll always find your way back home" just seemed so appropriate...

I think you'd best be off now.

We need never talk of this ever again.
  • It won't happen again - I'm off to see if there's a soundtrack album for Roam...

That was going OK until you mentioned the Hannah Montana CD

    Wrong on so many levels.

    Wrong very wrong…

    …A low speed tumble!
  • It's never happened to me before... :D

OK, it has, but when I did the little drop off, the rock garden and the tricky rooty bit, I rode like a proper mountain biker, honest!
  • I had to look up this Hannah Montana on youtube, you committed a crime as far as I'm concerned and deserve to become bubba's b1tch in the prison showers for listening to that.

Here's the antidote to all that femininity. 8)

it certainly is wrong. I can sympathise however, I usually go a bit mental after a great ride. I've often found myself screaming along to songs on the CD player on the way home.
I was waiting at some traffic lights once, shouting along to "Living on a Prayer", then I turned to look next to me and there was a scared looking woman in a convertible, staring at me

Oh, and there's also the "BIG hill" song me and some college mates made up years ago that is embarrassing if we get caught shouting it.
And the times at a trail centre where we've been either talking absolute nonsense, then realise someone is behind us, listening to us, and looking confused and horrified.
Or the times we sing "Where can you see Lions, only in (enter name of wherever we are).

See, my mind just turns to jelly after being on the bike

Talking of singing to music, I ride alone with headphones. The looks from "ramblers" as I go flying past singing away to myself

Once she opens her gob she's scary. Not just when she's singing. She's as obnoxious in real life as on TV.
