I'm having problems with the Campag Veloce front mech. on my S2. When the chain is put under strain when climbing a hill it refuses (in the worst cases) or is reluctant to drop off the large chain ring to the smaller one. Has anyone else experienced this?
I have been told by an ex- bike mechanic that changing the front mech. to Shimano would cure the problem.
Thanks for any comments/ advise. :?

Trying to change chain-ring while under load (i.e. climbing a hill) is a bad idea and I'm not surprised it doesn't change smoothly. A different mech won't make any difference.

have you altered the end stop screw! maybe the front mech isnt moving wquite far enough! when cycle without too much pressure it may shift fine but under any real load that could happen.
