Any recommendations on the best jumping bike to get for under £800? I'm looking for something light but strong. Also needs to have gears and full size wheels as will still be using it to cycle to trails.

Any advice would be more than welcome.

DMR Trailstar frame? Have to build it up yourself but it's not a full on DJer so you can use it more comfortably for other types of riding too.
  • Thanks for your reply but I'm looking for something that's fully built. Any more recommendations would be more than welcome. Thanks.

Take a look at the Commencal Absolut.

It can take an absolute beasting and is reasonably light. Some of the full built options have gears on the rear

I think this is the best you can get for your money and if 14" doesn't bother you:

I love my commencal- I bought the superteam maxmax(not a bad bike with original parts) and have upgraded it to a level similar to the absolut( dj 2's, magic wheels and bb5 brakes )and it a really good beginner dj bike

    I prefer the absolut 1.

It's a very nice frame, very stable but chuckable, and the components are very good for the price.

Saying that, the Giant is very good

Just so you know, incase you didn't, the max max frame and absolut frame are the same
  • Thanks for all your responses. I'm going to try to get a go on the absolut 1 and all going well will make a purchase.

    Thanks again :D

That's a 4x bike, not a DJ bike. You stand to wreck those gears if you're going to be dirt jumping and doing tricks etc as you will (and trust me, you WILL) bail a lot. Get a singlespeed, DJ bikes are all about being as strong and as simple as possible, gears are a hindrance.

I'd reccommend one of these, great frame, great components, absolutely bombproof. just what you need on a DJ bike. (get rid of the front brake though).

Also, this year's spesh p1 is supposed to be very good. Components aren't quite as good, but it's also a lot cheaper.

I would definately check out the Identiti 666S, it's technically a DJ bike but due to the choice of 26" wheels, discs and a gear hanger, it can be changed pretty easily so it can be used for 4X, singletrack or whatever :) plus being around £600 its £200 under budget.

Plus the green frame colour scheme looks so nice and the society forks are good :P
