Maratona dles Dolomites 2010

Any survivors?

I did the 138km course in 5 hours 59 minutes 47 seconds - a bit close. Not bad for spending the first 3 hours at the back of a traffic jam of 9,500 riders.

Great local support, incredible scenery, not a cloud in the skies, a lot of climbing and descending. The organisation was... Italian... excellent stewards and rescue services but why were there spectators wandering about on the finish line?

The last 3 miles were just awful. I'll be there next year.

I did this. Not as fast as you though. That's a mighty impressive time. Really enjoyed the ride however, especially as my first European sportive. It's fascinating how different it was from English ones, even in seemingly small things like feeding. Should have taken many more gels for instance rather than bars to suck on during the climbs.

A fantastic ride over some fantastic terrain though. Most recommended. Might persuade me to do the granfondo Pantani next year :)
