Once again, experience beats youth and immaturity as the fantastic Allesandro Petacchi beats Cavendish and others to get the stage today.

Petacchi being imo the strongest rider in the peloton, this is the year Cavendish can't stand the pace.

we'll forget Asthma Jet ...Alessandro Pettachi now. Great to see an old guy win, but if LA wins, it'll be a disdain posted I suspect :)

Great build up to the sprint today too, lots of jostling and no massive one team train...

I'm not writing him off just yet. His prologue suggests that will worth a minute or two on Andy Schlek in the last TT, AC is 50 seconds away on GC, Evans is a question mark after his Giro climbing. :D

Dave, you know I've been one of the "LA to surprise us at the Tour" club, but I have to say yesterday's efforts may have taken a significant amount from him. He won't give up, but I think others have something of the whip hand now, because there was always a likelihood LA would be just off the pace of AC & AS in the big mountains, and now he doesn't have a time advantage to play with.

I actually think Wiggins could stay with him in the hills then beat him in the TT for the minor placings...
