Dear all,

Please could you enlighten me as to what is generally the best cleats for roadies?

As a relative newbie I have always used Shimano SH51 with my lake cycling shoes. I'm now looking to udgrade my shoes and would be interested to know if I am missing a trick by sticking with SH51.

Thanks for any help.

I use DA pedals. Had them for 6 or so years now. Never have had to do ANYTHING to them. Seem bomb proof. I like that in a bike part. Cleats seem to wear "long enough" to suit me. Easy in, Easy out. I can't fault them FWIW.

You've got SPD pedals and cleats. These are generally considered to be mountain bike cleats but lots of road cyclists use them. I used them for over a year and even raced with them.

If you fancy a change then there are a bunch of different pedals that are more tailored towards road cycling. I used Shimano SPD-SL but Look Keo are also very popular. These use a 3 bolt fixing, instead of the 2 bolt fixing for SPDs.
