I have had my Rockhopper for twelve months now and seem to find myself riding quite a few miles on the roads, would i notice any major difference if i changed the tyres to slicks, if so any suggestions as to what ones ??

  • Slicks are substantially faster on the road. My road-going mountain bike has 25mm Contis.

+Potato on slicks. I have a rigid road going mountain bike shod with slicks and the difference is night and day.
Less rolling resistance, quieter, faster acceleration and top speed with added stability on corners. Money well spent.

Admittedly I have very wide Schwalbe Big Apple 2.35, they're wide and heavy but also act as suspension as my bike is totally unsprung

I got some schwalbe speed cruisers 1.50 profiles on my work bike and found I was doing the same journey nearly ten minutes quicker (7 miles) they seem to roll well are nice and comfy as they are still quite chunky and supposed to be good puncture ressitance, the wife likes them to as she has a set on her mountain bike .would buy these again, got from site on ebay £20 a pair and come with 2 tubes.
