Joining a club?

I'm still yet to buy a road bike, but I have been getting into biking again with the aid of my old slick shod MTB. I'm really enjoying it and looking forward to going out again.
I think though, that I would be better served by joining a club, however I really dont fancy Time Trialling. I'd like to cycle with others, possibly taking part in a race against others however I dont know whether this is done outside of the pro-am arena? Is club racing mainly Time Trials and how many clubs ride in groups?
I'm based in the Cleveland area where Cleveland Wheelers and Stockton Wheelers both operate

Look at the club website or give the secretary a call I joined a local club a few months ago and it is a great experience. Sunday ride out with the lads to a cafe and then back. Race when you want or plod along with the older members. Just like being a kid again. And it also helps you improve. We also have a midweek ride that is only about 20 miles but usually we push it.
You won't regret it
