Just about to swap my standard size Ultegra for a compact version of the same (I'm really struggling with some of the hills round here) !

Bottom Bracket is the same, but can someone tell me will the front derailleur be OK and will I need to adjust / shorten chain at all ?

Many thanks and await comments and advice

When I fitted mine, I had to shorten the chain by 2 links, lower the front mech about 5 mm and adjust (shorten) the front mech cable. You Tube has plenty of helpful videos if you are unsure.

I swiitch between a standard double and a compact quite often.

I never adjust the front mech position I did have to take a couple of links out of the chain.

The change on the front rings isnt as sweet as it could be with the compact on, but I guess this is mainly down to the front I never change the front mech position. I dont use the compact much, just for sportives where I am doing alot of climbing, just to make life a little easier.

Thanks gents....I like the idea of just using it for hillier rides as I can really get some speed up on the flat with the standard, so I'm going to try that with a couple of different length chains
